Page 333, after line 25, insert:
"PPP.  Notwithstanding any law or regulation, the Plan for Medical Assistance Services shall include coverage for compensator based intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) as a treatment strategy for breast cancer, lung cancer and other solid tumors in situations in which (i) important dose limiting structures adjacent to, but outside the planning target volume (ptv)  are sufficiently close to require IMRT to assure for safety and morbidity reduction, or (ii) an immediately adjacent volume (GTV) margins are concave or convex and in close proximity to critical structures that must be protected to avoid unacceptable morbidity, or (iii) only IMRT techniques would decrease the probability of grade 2 or grade 3 radiation toxicity as compared to conventional radiation in greater than 15 percent of irradiated similar cases."


Explanation
(This amendment requires the Medicaid program to cover a certain type of raditation therapy for breast and lung cancer in specific circumstances.)
