Explanation
(This amendment eliminates funding and language included in the introduced budget which proposed a process for the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court to waive the maximum fee allowed for court-appointed counsel. House Bill 2361 and Senate Bill 1168 establish a specific process for this purpose. This amendment adjusts the funding for the waivers. With this adjustment, this item provides $8.2 million for waivers. This amount is estimated to be sufficient to provide for the approval of waivers in approximately one out of every four charges, on average, for misdemeanor and felony charges in Circuit, General District, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District, and Combined District Courts.)
