"PPP.  The Department of Medical Assistance Services shall amend the State Plan of Medical Assistance Services to increase the physician/practitioner reimbursement fees by one percent effective July 1, 2007, in addition to the amounts contained in paragraph KK. in this item, contingent upon the passage of House Bill 2034 by the 2007 General Assembly.  The Department of Medical Assistance Services shall implement these reimbursement changes on July 1, 2007, or on the date of this enactment, whichever is later.  The Department shall have authority to implement these reimbursement changes prior to the completion of any regulatory process undertaken in order to effect such change."


Explanation
(This amendment adds $2.3 million from the general fund and $2.4 million from nongeneral funds in the second year to increase physician reimbursement rates by one percent, contingent upon the passage of House Bill 2034. A companion amendment in this item increases rates for physician services by two percent in fiscal year 2008. Together with this amendment, physician rates would increase by a total of three percent in fiscal year 2008 above the amounts approved by the 2006 General Assembly.)
