(This amendment provides $100,000 the second year from the general fund to Jobs for Virginia Graduates (JVG), bringing the total allocation to $500,000. JVG assists Virginia high school seniors to remain in school, graduate, and successfully transition from school to career-based employment. In the last ten years, JVG has had a graduation rate of over 94 percent and a job placement rate of over 86 percent. These funds will allow JVG to add up to 25 additional school divisions and up to an additional 1,000 students. Local school divisions apply for matching funds from JVG. These funds will be used to place Career Specialists in schools to introduce 81 different 'job competencies' in a classroom setting. One of the duties of the Career Specialists is to personally contact each graduate monthly for one year after graduation to ensure continued employment and success.)
