Explanation
(This amendment provides $50,000 the first year and $50,000 the second year from the general fund to the Northern Virginia Family Service - Early Head Start, which is located in Sterling. The Loudoun County Early Head Start is a community based program enrolling pregnant women and children up to 3 years old, including families with multiple children whose income falls below the federal poverty guidelines. Services are designed to provide early, comprehensive child development, positive parent-child interaction and maternal health. In 2005, EHS provided services to 53 children. The Loudoun County Head Start reported that 225 children are eligible for services. Loudoun EHS currently has a waiting list of 50 children requiring services. Additional funding would allow Loudoun EHS to provide services to a significant population of poor, at-risk families within the community.)
