Explanation
(This amendment provides $200,000 the first year and $200,000 the second year from the general fund to the Virginia Mentoring Partnership (VMP), which is located in Richmond but will benefit children statewide. The primary goal of VMP's training and technical assistance activities is to impart an understanding of the key components that can make a quality mentoring relationship successful. Through VMP's training and technical assistance, services are provided to volunteer mentors and mentoring program coordinators throughout the state. The VMP's focus is to benefit underserved children typically receiving TANF and/or Title I or free and reduced lunch funding by providing their mentors with the tools and resources necessary to support their mentees in achieving self-sufficiency and personal growth.)
