Explanation
(This amendment provides $545,000 each year from the general fund to the Virginia Museum of Transportation. The museum was designated as the official transportation museum for the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1984. The organization's mission is to preserve and interpret the transportation heritage of the Commonwealth by collecting, restoring and exhibiting significant artifacts in order to serve and educate Virginians. Located in Roanoke's historic freight station, the museum houses rail stock, antique automobiles, trucks, buses, and carriages, as well as a number of interpretive exhibits. The museum's resource library and archives has one of the most extensive collections of books, drawings, photographs and periodicals in the America.)
