Explanation
(This amendment provides $1.6 million each year from the general fund to support an increase in the mileage reimbursement rate paid to officials and state employees for the use of their private automobiles in the conduct of official business. The amendment also authorizes agencies supported in whole or in part by nongeneral funds to use their existing appropriations to provide for the payment of this increase in the mileage reimbursement rate. This amendment is a companion to a language amendment contained in Part IV of the Appropriation Act increasing the personal vehicle mileage reimbursement rate from 32.5 cents per mile to 44.5 cents per mile. The new rate was approved by the Internal Revenue Service on January 1, 2006.)
