Explanation
(This amendment provides additional funding to replicate pilot projects designed to serve individuals with serious mental illness in the community. The initial project was a collaboration between assisted living facilities and the Richmond Behavioral Health Authority. The funding would be targeted to assisted living facilities that are willing to collaborate with behavioral health authorities and/or community services boards on training, staffing, and identifying consumers with serious mental illness to be served. This replicated project is intended to serve 100 consumers at a cost of $4,000 per person. Services included in this project are onsite 24/7 crisis, psychiatric and medication services, intensive case management, and group therapy. The introduced budget provides $750,000 from the general fund each year for projects that have been underway for several years. This is a recommendation of the Joint Commission on Health Care.)
