Explanation
(This amendment provides start-up funding through the Department of Medical Assistance Services for six Programs for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). These programs provide an array of services to individuals age 55 and older who meet the criteria for admission to a nursing facility but who wish to remain in their communities. PACE is a model that blends Medicare and Medicaid funding. Virginia currently does not have a full PACE program. A number of providers are interested in the program but the lack of start-up funding has created a barrier to provider entry into the market. This funding would allow for up to sixgrants to providers for start-up funding based on criteria to be determined by the Department of Medical Assistance Services.)
