Explanation
(This amendment increases funding for the administration of the patient level data base to support the outpatient reporting system and consumer reports derived from the patient level database. Legislation passed in 2001 required the development of an outpatient reporting system. Virginia Health Information (VHI) developed the reporting system and has started to process the data without state funding. In addition, funding is requested to allow VHI to offer consumer guides and reports to help consumers make more informed health care purchasing decisions. This is a recommendation of the Joint Commission on Health Care.)
