Explanation
(This amendment provides funding to provide a booster dose to the tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis (Tdap) vaccine to children prior to entering the sixth grade if more than five years have elapsed since the last dose, pursuant to Senate Bill 117. This immunization schedule is in accordance with that developed and published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Pertussis is the only vaccine-preventable disease with increasing numbers of reported cases. Approximately 30 percent of unvaccinated children are expected to receive their vaccines at local health departments.)
