Explanation
(This amendment provides $100,000 the first year from the general fund to the Fort Lee Quartermaster Museum Foundation, which is located in Fort Lee. Since 1957 the Quartermaster Museum has preserved the history and heritage of the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps, the Army's oldest logistic branch. For more than two centuries Quartermaster soldiers have fed, clothed and equipped the United States Army. The mission of the Museum is to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret the history of the Quartermaster Corps from its birth in 1775 to the present. To this end, the Museum has collected over 23,000 artifacts relating to the Corps' history and has assembled thousands of documents relating to Quartermaster Corps history. The funding will support a construction project for a new entrance to Museum. The new entrance will direct new visitors to both the Quartermaster Museum, the U.S. Army Women's Museum and possibly secure two new museums. The request is geared to support Fort Lee's additional BRAC-related staffing.)
