Explanation
(This amendment eliminates funding and language contained in the introduced bill for an electronic health records initiative in the Virginia Department of Health, including the development of a Master Patient Index, the establishment of Regional Health Information Organizations and grants to unspecified health providers for the acquisition of electronic health records. Funding included in the language for the VHI Patient Level Database of $50,000 each year is retained and moved into paragraph N. of this item which earmarks funds for the database. Language and funding for the continuation of an electronic records pilot project between the Department of Health and the Carilion Health System is retained in a separate paragraph.)
