Page 321, after line 16, insert:
"VVV.  Effective July 1, 2005, the Department shall amend the State Plan for Medical Assistance to establish a new disproportionate share (DSH) payment category for hospitals designated by the Virginia Department of Health as trauma centers to recognize uncompensated care losses, including readiness costs and clinical services, incurred by providing care to uninsured patients by such hospitals."

(This amendment increases Medicaid reimbursements to trauma centers through the establishment of a new disproportionate share payment category which recognizes uncompensated care costs.)
