"C. Out of the amounts appropriated for Bill Drafting and Preparation, $28,200 the second year from the general fund is provided to support the work of the Virginia Transportation Priority and Funding Commission, which shall examine the most effective use of transportation funding for the construction of highways, bridges, mass transit, rail, and other transportation modes and prioritize those projects. A report of the commission's findings and recommendations shall be submitted to the General Assembly no later than January 10, 2006."
Explanation
(This amendment provides $28,200 from the general fund in the second year to support the Virginia Tranportation Priority and Funding Commission, which will consist of six legislative members and 23 nonlegislative members with experience in highway construction, finance, and other disciplines. The commission will examine how transportation is used to construct highways, bridges, mass transit, rail, and other transportation projects and will prioritize transportation needs into two tiers -- one, representing projects that should go forward now; two, projects to be completed by 2020. A final report is to be submitted to the General Assembly no later than January 10, 2006.)
