"B.  In developing the Preferred Drug List program, the Department of Medical Assistance Services shall ensure that (i) prior authorization for a current medication shall be granted upon the request of the physician if a change in the patient's medication may cause deterioration of the patient's condition; (ii) therapeutic classes in which there is only one drug in the therapeutic class shall not be restricted by the program; (iii) all medications used for the treatment of mental illness, including anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications; and (iv) medications used for the treatment of cancer such as chemotherapeutic agents, antiemetics, and pain medications shall not be subject to prior authorization."
