Explanation
(This amendment provides additional funding for student financial aid based on anticipated tuition increases in FY 2005. Although the state currently meets 35 percent of remaining need, on average, across all public colleges and universities, several institutions fall short of the state average. Incremental funding reflected in amendments to Senate Bill 30 in combination with the funds already included in the introduced budget are provided with the intent of meeting at least 35 percent of remaining need at all institutions while continuing to move all institutions to the state goal of meeting at least 50 percent of remaining need.)
