Explanation
(This amendment would (a) restore cuts made to the Commonwealth's Attorneys programs during 2002 and 2003, and (b) provide funding to fill the "position gap" between the positions required according to the state minimum staffing standards, on the one hand, and actual authorized positions, on the other. The amendment is requested by the Virginia Association of Local Elected Constitutional Officers (VALECO), the umbrella organization that represents the common interests of all five constitutional offices (sheriffs, Commonwealth's attorneys, clerks of the circuit courts, commissioners of the revenue, and treasurers).)
