Explanation
(This amendment provides a general fund grant of $75,000 in each year to Belle Grove Plantation to support this facility's continuing operations. Belle Grove Plantation is a unique limestone mansion originally built in 1797 by Major Isaac Hite, Jr., a prominent Revolutionary War veteran, and his wife, Nelly Conway Madison, the sister of James Madison. Listed on both the National and Virginia Registers of Historic Landmarks, the plantation is currently used as a museum and educational center.)
