Page 357, after line 48, insert:
"C.  The Virginia Department of Transportation is hereby directed to undertake a project to widen and improve shoulders along Route 28 by three feet on each side from the Fauquier and Prince William County line to the intersection of Route 28 and Route 15/29.  Such project shall also include the addition of left turn lanes and installation of signalization at such intersections between State Routes 603 and  616 where daily traffic levels warrant.  Estimated costs of such improvements are $1,000,000 in the first year and $1,000,000 in the second year.  The Department is hereby directed to include funding for such improvements in the fiscal year 2005-2010 Six-Year Improvement Program.  If insufficient funding increases are  available for such improvements, the Department is authorized to transfer funding allocations from other primary system projects in the region or utilize federal safety funding."

Explanation
(This amendment directs the Department of Transportation to provide $1.0 million each year to widen and improve shoulders and improve intersections along Route 28 from the Fauquier/Prince William County line to the intersection with Route 15/29.)
