"K.  The Piedmont Regional Jail is authorized to develop a pilot program for the basic jailor certification, jailor in-service certification, and train the trainer programs to be provided at a public or private  higher education institution in Virginia.  The training programs shall meet all training requirements prescribed by the Code of Virginia and Board of Criminal Justice Services.  Prior to disbursement of the appropriation in this item and the implementation of the pilot project, the Board of Criminal Justice Services is required to certify that the organization providing the training, the curriculum, the instructors, and classroom environment meet all established statutory and regulatory standards."


Explanation
(This amendment authorizes the Piedmont Regional Jail, in conjunction with a Virginia higher education institution, to develop a basic jailor certification, jailor in service certification, and train the trainer programs to be provided at a Virginia institute of higher education.)
