Explanation
(This amendment provides additional general fund dollars to the Magistrate System to support the provision of a shift differential equivalent to an increase in pay of 9.3 percent for magistrates assigned to evening and weekend rotations. The amendment states that the source of these general fund dollars will be the Criminal Fund. A companion amendment provides the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court authority to transfer proceeds of the Criminal Fund to this item to provide for this shift differential. Providing this shift differential was a recommendation of the Committee on District Courts. The Criminal Fund is currently used to support reimbursement to court-appointed attorneys, court reporters, interpreters, and jury per diems.)
