Explanation
(This amendment provides funding to the Department of Aging to expand the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program that is operated at the local level by area agencies on aging. This amendment would complete statewide funding of this program, and provide sufficient funds for each local program to employ one ombudsman for every 2,000 licensed nursing home and adult care residence beds in the community. This level of staffing has been recommended by the National Institute of Medicine.)
