"P. Out of the appropriation provided for Economic Development Services, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership shall designate three full-time employees who shall be dedicated to promoting economic development opportunities in distressed areas of the Commonwealth.  Of these three full-time employees, one shall be responsible for the Southwestern region of Virginia, one for Southside Virginia and one for the Eastern Shore of Virginia.  The Virginia Economic Development Partnership shall develop specific projects for marketing each of the regions referenced in this paragraph that shall be designed to generate project leads to be provided to local and regional officials, and coordinate marketing activities with the local industrial development authorities, regional marketing authorities and local governing bodies.  By November 1 of each year, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership shall provide to the Chairmen on the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees an annual report detailing its distressed areas activities, the number of potential business prospects identified, and successes achieved in the preceding fiscal year."

(This amendment directs the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) to designate, from existing resources, 3 employees to be dedicated to economic development for Southwest and Southside Virginia and the Eastern Shore and to develop specific projects for marketing such regions. The VEDP is further directed to coordinate its marketing efforts with the local industrial authorities, counties and regional marketing authorities, and generate an annual report of activities and successes each year.)
