Explanation
(This amendment provides $2.3 million each year from nongeneral funds from the federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) to provide up to 12 months of rental assistance to low-income Virginians through the Homeless Intervention Program. An estimated 400 Virginia families could be assisted. The subsidy would be the difference between the Fair Market Rent of a community and a family's housing budget, amounting to approximately 30 percent of income.)
