Explanation
(This amendment restores language earmarking general fund appropriations for the Comprehensive Health Investment Project (CHIP). The introduced budget substituted federal TANF funds for the general fund appropriations in this program. The added funding ($671,272 each year) provided by a companion amendment in Item 313.10 would enable CHIP to continue using state funds for matching other federal funds, thereby ensuring no reductions in services. The program would be authorized to retain the increase in federal TANF funds proposed in the introduced budget. The companion amendment in Item 313.10 restores the appropriations, which would have been distributed as "management savings" to this program.)
