"Financial assistance for these programs and activities shall not be unalloted nor be reduced to a service level below the appropriation included in Chapter 1073 of the
2000 Acts of the Assembly
:
1.  Promotion of agricultural products and services;
2.  Assistance with value assessments for agriculture and horticulture;
3.  Protection of consumers through the Agricultural Stewardship Act;
4.  Marketing of Virginia-grown commodities and livestock;
5.  Ensuring the safety and quality of crops and livestock through grading and inspections;
6.  Facilitating safe and efficient use of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides through training, testing, and inspection;
7.  Monitoring Virginia agriculture and horticulture through the Virginia Agriculture Statistics Service;
8.  Promotion of the proper care, disease eradication, and quality breeding of Virginia livestock; and
9.  Protecting Virginia farmland."


Explanation
(This amendment restores proposed funding reductions to the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and specifies that the funds shall be used for the provision of specific services. This amendment does not restore any of the agency's productivity savings.)
