Page 392, after line 42, insert:
"H.  The amounts for Oyster Propagation and Habitat Improvement include $75,000 the second year from the general fund to develop comprehensive strategies for oyster aquaculture in the Chesapeake Bay.  The Marine Resources Commission, with the assistance of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, shall study oyster aquaculture efforts in the United States and other countries.  This study shall include, but not be limited to, regulatory and technical impediments to oyster aquaculture in Virginia.  The study shall evaluate biological alternatives available to foster aquaculture within the state, and the market for oyster products.  This study shall be completed in time to make a report and recommendations to the 2002 General Assembly."

(This amendment provides funding for a study to develop a comprehensive plan to expand oyster aquaculture in the Chesapeake Bay.)
