Explanation
(This amendment adds funds for the fiscal impact of House Bill 1633, which provides that any person who voluntarily delivers a child no older than 2 weeks to an infant-receiving facility shall not be prosecuted for abuse or neglect if this charge is based solely on the delivery of the child to an infant-receiving facility. Funds in this item would cover the costs associated with providing Medicaid coverage to the abandoned infant. Companion amendments in Item 382 and Item 380 add funds for foster care placement and a media campaign to promote safe placement alternatives for newborn infants and to publicize the procedures for emergency custody for certain abandoned children.)
