Explanation
(This amendment provides funding to the Great Bridge Battlefield and Waterways History Foundation to create a Visitor Center in Chesapeake which would tell the story of the Battle of Great Bridge which took place on December 9, 1775, when American troops defeated the British, leading to the British evacuation from Norfolk and re-establishment of the supply line between Virginia and the Southern colonies. In addition, the Visitor Center would provide information on the historic Albemarle and Chesapeake Canal, and the Dismal Swamp Canal.)
