Explanation
(This amendment provides $682,993 the second year from the general fund for a salary adjustment to make Magistrate compensation competitive with the comparable position of Hearing Officer in the Executive Branch. This adjustment was recommended in the 1996 JLARC report entitled "Review of the Magistrate System in Virginia.")
