“This item includes a one-time appropriation of  $250,000 in the second year from
the general fund for the construction of the George Mason Memorial Garden in
Washington, D.C.  The appropriation of the funds is contingent upon a match from
private donors.”

Explanation
(This amendment provides the state share of the construction costs of the George Mason Memorials. The site for the memorial was authorized by the Congress of the United States with the proviso that ground breaking occur no later than August, 1997. The United States Park Service will maintain the memorial once completed.)
