"C.  The amount for Crime Detection, Investigation, and Apprehension includes $5,400,000 the second year from the general fund for 105 new State Trooper positions.  It is the intent of the General Assembly that these positions be used by the Department to expand its efforts in narcotics interdiction, reducing urban violent crime and teen drug abuse, expanding rural patrol coverage, and reducing incident response time."
