"L.  The Department shall study the sediment problems at Bear Creek Lake located at the state-owned park in Cumberland County.  The study shall  (1) identify the portions of the lake that are no longer suitable for fishing, boating, and swimming; (2) identify the source or sources causing the problems and alternative actions and costs, including the costs to dredge the lake and dispose of the material; and (3) develop recommendations to address the situation.  The Department shall report its findings and recommendations to the Chairmen of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees by November 5, 1997."

Explanation
(This amendment directs the agency to develop cost estimates of alternatives, including dredging, to correct the sediment problems in the lake at Bear Creek Lake State Park. The sediment has rendered 40 percent of the lake unsuitable for fishing, boating, and swimming. In 1995, the park had more than 58,000 visitors, with almost 14,000 staying overnight.)
