Explanation
(This amendment eliminates funds which are not needed in the first year to initiate a Public Defender Office serving Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville. Funding for this purpose was provided to the Public Defender Commission last year, covering both years of the biennium. However, the funding was not needed in the first year because the legislation was vetoed last year. The office will begin operation in the second year, with funds still remaining in the budget, as introduced, pursuant to House Bill 1607 of the 1997 Session.)
