Explanation
(This amendment adds $2,470,000 in general funds in the second year and directs that $2,600,000 be provided to fund the second year operating costs of two new community college campuses: $2,000,000 and 38.25 FTE positions for the downtown Norfolk campus of Tidewater Community College, and $600,000 and 11.75 FTE positions for the Fredericksburg campus of Germanna Community College. The amendment also deletes language that requires the Virginia Community College System to reallocate from its existing resources to finance the entire second year costs of the new campuses; however, the amendment requires that five percent of the additional costs be financed through reallocation. A companion amendment found in Item 530 makes a conditional appropriation of up to $1.0 million and authorizes positions should enrollment exceed current estimates at the four campuses, including the Norfolk campus, of Tidewater Community College.)
