This appropriation provides funds the first year from the general fund for the estimated increase in the operating costs of juvenile correctional centers, resulting from a bill increasing the penalties for escape from a juvenile correctional center or secure detention center, to be introduced at the request of the Governor. If enacted, this legislation would result in a net increase in periods of commitment in state juvenile correctional facilities. The funds shall be paid into the Corrections Special Reserve Fund, established in accordance with § 30-19.1:4, Code of Virginia.
