Included in this item is funding to support an estimated 17 additional public defender positions, above the level of funding provided for staffing in such offices as of January 1, 1996. The Public Defender Commission shall allocate these positions to local or regional offices based upon actual and projected juvenile offender caseloads in the courts. These positions shall be used primarily, if not exclusively, for indigent defense services related to serious juvenile offenders.
