"T. Included in the appropriation for this item is $5,000,000 the first year and $5,000,000 the second year for the reimbursement of local and regional jails for the costs of incarcerating state-responsible offenders consistent with the provisions of House 989 of the 2022 Session of the General Assembly."

Explanation

(This amendment provides $5.0 million from the general fund each year for the Department of Corrections to reimburse local and regional jails for the costs of incarcerating state responsible inmates. The bill would provide that such compensation would be at a rate of $12 per inmate per day for the first 60 days, at the rate of $40 per inmate per day during the period of more than 60 but not more than 90 days, and for the actual cost of incarceration as calculated in the jail report prepared annually by the Compensation Board for more than 90 days. This is a placeholder amendment until a fiscal impact statement for the bill is provided.)
