"G.1. Included in this appropriation is $8,250,000 the first year and $1,500,000 the second year from the general fund to be deposited into the Virginia Battlefield Preservation Fund. This appropriation shall be deemed sufficient to meet the provisions of § 2.2-1509.4, Code of Virginia.

2. Out of these amounts, $1,500,000 the first year and $1,500,000 the second year is provided to provide for grants to be made in accordance with § 10.2-2202.4, Code of Virginia.

3. Out of these amounts, $2,000,000 the first year from the general fund is provided to support the establishment of a history and education center in New Market.

4. Out of these amounts, $2,750,000 the first year from the general fund is provided for the support of restoration activities and infrastructure improvements at currently established Virginia battlefields.

5. Out of these amounts, $2,000,000 the first year from the general fund is provided to support land acquisition adjacent to Brandy Station Battlefield."

Explanation

(This amendment increases the general fund deposit to the Battlefield Preservation Fund by $7.3 million in fiscal year 2023 and $500,000 in fiscal year 2024 to support (i) a $500,000 increase each year for general battlefield preservation activities undertaken by the Department of Historic Resources; (ii) $2.0 million in fiscal year 2023 to support the establishment of a history and education center in New Market, Virginia; (iii) $2.8 million in fiscal year 2023 to support restoration and infrastructure improvements at currently established Virginia battlefields; and (iv) $2.0 million in fiscal year 2023 for land acquisition near Brandy Station Battlefield.)
