"C. Out of this appropriation, $250,000 the first year and $250,000 the second year shall be provided for a Representative Payee Grant Fund to award grants to community non-profit organizations that serve as representatives payees appointed by the Social Security Administration to manage Social Security and Supplemental Security Income for their clients."

Explanation

(This amendment adds $250,000 from the general fund each year to establish a Representative Payee Grant Fund to award grants to non-profit organizations serving as representative payees for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income recipients. Currently the Social Security Administration allows these organizations to take a portion of their clients' social security income to perform this service, however most organizations perform this service voluntarily due to the low income and needs of the clients they serve.)
