Explanation
(This amendment requests funding to offset the nongeneral fund split requirements for the five percent salary increases contained in House Bill 30. In the Educational & General (E&G) program the state pays a certain percentage of the cost that reflects each institutions' proportion of in-state versus out-of-state students enrolled and the prior year's salary base for state employees. The portion not covered by the Commonwealth must be paid by the institution from tuition. That amount varies from institution to institution. In order to limit the need to increase tuition, funding for 100% of the cost of the salary and benefits increases proposed in the budget would be necessary.)
