(This amendment provides $510,000 the second year from the general fund and nine positions for the Division of Forensic Science to reduce the backlog in testing crime scene evidence. This funding is estimated to be sufficient to hire 12 additional scientists, effective January 1, 2006. Three of these positions were already included in the introduced budget, but without funding, so the Maximum Employment Level only needs to be increased by nine positions.)
