"Out of the amounts for Financial Assistance for Cultural and Artistic Affairs, $140,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation."

Explanation
(This amendment provides $140,000 from the general fund in the second year to the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation for the development of a marketing plan for the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District, which is the only congressionally-designated national heritage area located in Virginia. This national historic district encompasses 14 civil war battlefields and more than 30 museums in an eight-county region which includes the cities of Harrisonburg, Staunton, Waynesboro, and Winchester as well as the counties of Augusta, Clarke, Frederick, Highland, Page, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren. The organization plans to use general fund support to develop and begin implementation of the marketing plan in time for both the Jamestown 2007 celebration and the sesquicentennial of the Civil War's initiation in 2011. It should be noted that the foundation also receives federal appropriations that are used in the development of services for visitors.)
