"Out of the amounts for Financial Assistance for Cultural and Artistic Affairs, $2,000,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to the Birmingham Green Adult Care Residence."
Explanation
(This amendment provides $2.0 million from the general fund in the second year to the Birmingham Green Adult Care Residence, a non-profit regional facility providing mental health services to low income residents of the City of Alexandria and the counties of Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, and Prince William. This facility, originally constructed in 1927, has a number of deficiencies, including: dormitory-style restrooms, small resident rooms, inadequate accessibility, and inadequate fire protection. Consequently, a $10.8 million replacement facility is currently in design. The localities operating Birmingham Green have secured $8.8 million in federal, local, and private support for the replacement facility's construction costs. The requested $2.0 million would complete funding for the project.)
