"Out of the amounts for Financial Assistance for Cultural and Artistic Affairs, $5,000,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to the City of Suffolk and the City of Chesapeake."

Explanation
(This amendment provides $5,000,000 from the general fund in the second year to the cities of Suffolk and Chesapeake for the construction of visitors centers for the Great Dismal Swamp. The City of Suffolk would build its visitors center on city-owned property located in the proximity of the hotel and conference center currently in construction on the Nansemond River. This location would be within the city's downtown historic district. The City of Chesapeake would purchase land and construct a visitors center along the Dismal Swamp Canal and the existing Route 17, which will be converted into a trail once the relocated Route 17 is completed.)
