Explanation
(This amendment eliminates across-the-board budget reductions currently approved for Judicial Department agencies in the biennium's second year. A large portion of the restored general fund dollars ($856,735) would be used by the Supreme Court of Virginia for judicial branch employee training, resumption of dispute resolution services, replacement of obsolete technology, and hiring wage employees. Other Judicial Department agencies would also receive additional support from this action. These agencies include: the Judicial Inquiry and Review Commission ($2,834), the Virginia Criminal Sentencing Commission ($5,152), the Board of Bar Examiners ($5,640), the Virginia State Bar ($13,222), and the Indigent Defense Commission ($116,417).)
