Explanation
(This amendment provides $4.3 million from the general fund and $4.3 million in matching federal Medicaid dollars in the second year to create a new Medicaid brain injury waiver program for 200 individuals with brain injuries who can be served in community settings rather than more costly institutional settings. It is estimated that 90 individuals with brain injuries currently reside in state mental facilities and 6,650 persons with brain injuries currently reside in nursing facilities.)
