Explanation
(This amendment provides "bridge" funding in each year of the biennium to allow the Department of Health Professions sufficient time to adjust annual renewal fees to ensure the long-term financial stability of the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program. Funding for the program from existing federal and state resources has been severely limited beginning in fiscal year 2005. Funding this request will enable the Department of Health Professions to continue its CNA registration and disciplinary efforts. There are approximately 40,000 CNAs currently on the registry.)
